    • (II) Deacon John, third child and second son of Thomas, senior, and Abigail (Goodnow) Barnes, was born in Marlboro, December 25, 1666. He was a lifelong resident of Marlboro and participated activelyin the early religious progress of that locality, having served as a deacon of the church during the pastorate of the Rev. Mr. Beck. His death occurred April 5. 1752. The maiden name of his wife was Hannah Howe, and she died November 8, 1742, aged sixty-six years. Their children were: Abigail, born October 5, 1695, married Joseph Morse ; Dorothy, born March 24, 1698, married James Woods ; Daniel,born April 2, 1701, married Zerumiah Eager; Jonathan, who will be again referred to; David, born June 24, 1708, died May 9, 1720; Hannah, born February 17, 1712, became the wife of Andrew Rice ; and John, born March 23, 1716, married Elizabeth Cranston.
